Merge into household on Export Contact throws db error

Run a contact search. Select all contacts> Export contacts use Primary Fields Export Select "Merge Household Members into their Households" option. DB Error message appears

Have been able to run the export using Household merge, by using select fields/ field mapping options, rather than export primary fields.

Client site recently upgraded from 4.7.21 to 5.6.1

This code has changed since 5.6.1 so this is likely working in 5.8.2 - definitely worth trying upgrading to the latest version

@alarmingcod Are you sure it's the same error? The error you posted is '8_a_b_phone_type' in 'field list' - which would be a new error/ regression

However, a pretty good portion of sites have been unable to use the merge to household feature due a mysql-version/config specific error for quite a while - in that case the error is

Database Error Code: Row size too large (> 8126). Changing some columns to TEXT or BLOB may help. In current row format, BLOB prefix of 0 bytes is stored inline., 1118

When I tried locally I got the latter error but when I hacked past that I didn't get the former error - so I think the error you hit may be fixed in master - although the demo site is affected by a different error - which probably would not affect your site if it worked for you on 4.7.21

Note that there is a PR here for the DB row size issue https://github.com/civicrm/civicrm-core/pull/13338 - but it's a first cut at this stage & will need more testing - it would be good to get it into 5.10.0 release which will become the rc on 2 Jan

Hi @eileen I don't know actually, and maybe I'm just clouding the issue here, sorry.

I couldn't get to the backtrace on Master so thought I'd try and be "helpful" and offer the backtrace from client site.

I'll also be abit more thorough in searching stack exchange next time and see if I can find anyything there, before pasting up here.

Pretty sure this is fixed in latest version - closing.

Note there are 2 known bugs in latest version - 1 is just about the output & has a PR. The other is the field lengths in the export tables can be too short for the data. These are not this though
