Why choose between D8 & WordPress?

Maybe we need to consider the new website not as a monolithic entity but as a number of 'features' that can each be realized with the best tool available. For example the 'extensions directory' might be better done with Drupal entity/views, but the 'main website' better done with a modern Wordpress theme. Beyond the obvious technical advantages, there are other advantages for example that each component can be developed independently (# teams & schedule), and also evolve independently in the future.
