Here are the pages I've found so far which exhibit this problem:
* https://civicrm.org/get-involved
* https://civicrm.org/support-us
* https://civicrm.org/help
I have a hard time imagining how this site could be set up to allow for this problem to occur. I think I've reported this issue before, for other pages, so it seems to me like some fix needs to be made structurally to the site so that it's not possible for this to happen.https://lab.civicrm.org/marketing/civicrm-website/-/issues/5Broken links to docs pages about specific features2020-04-05T13:27:15ZSean ColsenBroken links to docs pages about specific featuresThis is a content issue that affects multiple pages in the same way...

This link is broken and probably has been for about a year. It needs to be updated to point to the correct page in the User Guide.
The same needs to happen for (I think) *all* other "features" pages like this one. There are, at least, a few cases of it. Should be more fine grained like the post blog, post case study: set up new permissions post job etc.
I think given access to the test site, I could set these permissions up in a sensible way for evaluation.
**Org Management**
Partner orgs will have some turnover of staff and should be able to manage this without diverting valuable CT resources to make changes to relationships etc. I can view my own record in civi and my employer, but I can’t see the contact records of my co-employees. It would be useful to have the ability to manage my team, adding new members so that their contributions to the project are recorded and removing those ex-employees that should no longer be able to view e.g. our event participants.
Even better would be the ability to set permissions for those contacts so that I can say give Jo the ability to post events though not add blogs, and Sam the ability to post blogs and case studies, but not manage events.
Circle have a custom module that can could address some of this with minor further work.
**Event Management**
It’s beneficial to have people set up events and get the participants logged on civicrm.org as this increases the potential pool for Conferences and Camps.
I can add an event but can’t view any of the participants except my own contact! I also can't see any participants of other events my org is running: there is no permission to allow me to see only participants in my own events and I don't (and probably shouldn't) have view all contacts. I suggest we set up views (?) to show at least my events but preferably my org’s events and participants in those events. It would be useful if I could also see attendees of events posted by other people in my organisation so we can have more than one person involved.
Ideally I should be able to send mail to people who have registered for my events. At least I should be able to get their contact details to send out further communication through email prior to / after events.CiviCRM Website Upgradedavemdavemhttps://lab.civicrm.org/marketing/civicrm-website/-/issues/9Add blog feed on team pages2020-04-05T13:29:46Zjoshjosh@civicrm.orgAdd blog feed on team pagesAdd in a feed to individual team pages that display content related to that team based on blog tags (for example, posts tagged "community" would appear in the community team).Add in a feed to individual team pages that display content related to that team based on blog tags (for example, posts tagged "community" would appear in the community team).https://lab.civicrm.org/marketing/civicrm-website/-/issues/10Display author info in partner blog posts2021-03-11T15:32:07Zjoshjosh@civicrm.orgDisplay author info in partner blog postsWould be nice to develop an author block at the base of each post that linked back to a partner's profile page. ### Original issue
The menu setup in this site is *way* confusing/convoluted.
Here are some ways in which this is confusing to *users*...
![menus](/uploads/18d36c4d3d801c184ec2bd4b29ccce26/menus.png)
And for site maintainers it's also confusing because there are so many menus...
![screenshot36](/uploads/2ed118f3fcd987e6b461f59d26efeea7/screenshot36.png)
I think we need to come up with *one* menu for the public-facing site pages and organize all content into that that menu.CiviCRM Website Upgradehttps://lab.civicrm.org/marketing/civicrm-website/-/issues/21Change site header to non-fixed2020-08-11T22:00:01ZSean ColsenChange site header to non-fixedThis is by far my biggest gripe with civicrm.org... the header is so tall that it hogs an obnoxious amount of screen space, especially on mobile devices. I want the header to move up when I scroll the page. Another acceptable solution would be to continue using a fixed header but make it much much smaller.

* https://civicrm.org/registered-sites-listing
created with this View:
* https://civicrm.org/admin/structure/views/view/registered_sites_map_and_listing/edit
consider these updates and publish the listing:
* add State/Province and ZIP/Postal Code to the test search View. For example, I did a search for Albany as City and US as Country, and get both Albany, Oregon and Albany, New York as results. See the screenshots below. So adding State/Province to the search would be very useful.
* add in State/Province for some records since it's not required at https://civicrm.org/register-your-site?src=iam&sid=test_mode
* State/Province *should* be required at https://civicrm.org/register-your-site?src=iam&sid=test_mode if the user first *chooses* the US, Canada or another country which has those.
* ZIP Code/Postal Code *should* also be required at https://civicrm.org/register-your-site?src=iam&sid=test_mode , and I don't know of a Country that does *not* have those
* figure out a way to do ZIP/Postal code radius searching. That way a user can find other orgs in a metropolitan area, not just another city.
* besides updating data, etc, de-duping will be needed - for example, Citizen Action of New York appears twice, which is probably totally my fault.
* add a contact e-mail for the user org profile (not expose an e-mail address directly, but a link to 'Send an e-mail to the CiviCRM contact for this organization' that hides the e-mail address)
* show a street address for the organization
* might want to not include Number of Employees
* In the Country drop down, make the top CiviCRM-using countries as shown at http://stats.civicrm.org/?tab=geography appear first, and then the rest, to avoid users unnecessary scrolling down the Country list - though that might be taken as being too US/UK centric/favoring.
* Consider a way to detect a searching user's location City and Country from the user IP address automatically, to save search time/steps, though that would probably creep out folks too much.
* Add a link to join an existing or create a new Meetup for the chosen geographic area, and to attend CiviCons, CiviCamps, CiviDays etc based on a ZIP code radius search
* display Partners in the given geographic area, again based on a ZIP code radius search
* check that the people on the list of sites have given us permission to publish their (organisational, not personal) data
* as a courtesy remind the orgs that we are publishing their data (we already told them that we might publish their data when we collected it)
* give people a chance to say if their org is not using CiviCRM any more (and ask if not, why not?)
* give partners a heads up on publishing the listing and give them an opportunity to preview the updated version before going live and publicizing the search capability

>
> **Problem:** Event creators can’t view a list of attendees for events they have created.
>
> **Why this is a problem:** any creator of local events either needs full CiviCRM permissions or will do (as Circle does) the registration on their own site in order to communicate with participants
>
> **Extension fix:** add a new permission using ACL Hooks for “view contacts who are attending an event that the current logged in user created” to reveal at least First name, Last name, Email.
> At the moment a CiviCRM page will be viewable for event creators showing the number of attendees, but not listing the attendees.
> https://civicrm.org/civicrm/event/search?reset=1&force=1&status=true&event=820
> So no new formatting should be needed, just a permissions change:
>
> **Further dev:** depending on how hard that is, further improvement might include exposing the 'actions menu' items, ie ‘email users’, ‘add to smart group’.davejdavejhttps://lab.civicrm.org/marketing/civicrm-website/-/issues/43Top of page content cut off2017-06-10T19:22:24ZSean ColsenTop of page content cut offPage content is out of view on the following page, as shows below:

I would expect that both of these "lists" contain only CiviCon events in the *future*. Currently I see St. Louis in both of those lists (which is a past CiviCon).
I would also expect that these lists are generated by views which do not require any manual content updating in order to hide previous events.
I think it'd be great to have a *separate* lists (further towards the bottom of the page) which shows the previous (perhaps five, perhaps *all*?) CiviCon events, and allows the user to click on each to learn more. But it's important that the user be able to quickly distinguish between *previous* and *upcoming* events.https://lab.civicrm.org/marketing/civicrm-website/-/issues/45Add "Register here" link to CiviCon UK slideshow slide2017-11-02T12:26:49ZSean ColsenAdd "Register here" link to CiviCon UK slideshow slideIf I want to register for CiviCon UK, finding the registration link is currently somewhat burried.

Edits over the last year to the site theme - removing the black stripe breadcrumb bar, adding a topbar, adding a third navbar, having different spacing patterns for different pages, presence of breadcrumbs on certain pages, etc - have been done iteratively rather than afresh, and have left a number of bugs and per-page css overrides to try to fix them.
Some of this is because the site has a fixed header, so the content underneath needs to be offset by the same amount, but the fixed header changes in height depending if there's a third-level menu or not, but as there's no body class set when there's a third level nav, there's no simple way to code. Another issue is the way the breadcrumbs are sometimes hidden. Overall the problem is taking a template built for one design and using it for another design with quick fixes.
The only sensible long-term fix is to rebuild the template header. This has been started on test2 but not completed after the number of dependencies/consequences became apparent & other priorities came up. I'm creating this as a ticket to compile any other header related bugs, and to monitor progress on this - e.g

To seasoned Drupallers checking out something they think is available as a Drupal module, this comes across as though CiviCRM is an abandoned project - even with the current page text saying "downloads are not here".
Some things that might be worth considering:
* Formatting on project page is limited, and you get a single image at top right. See [drupal.org project formatting docs](https://www.drupal.org/filter/tips)
* Project git history is inactive on Drupal.org, Drupal folk look to git to show project activity. (Commit log says "last commit 8 years ago".)
* Drupal.org project page shows no issues etc, which is a "red flag" when looking at Drupal modules.
* Current page is fairly text heavy, which might reduce the changes of people catching the "download from civicrm.org" links.
Discussion (early June 2017) on chat: https://chat.civicrm.org/civicrm/pl/5emg55xytpfniyptehj5h6z9pe
Another project which has moved off Drupal.org is https://www.drupal.org/project/drush - they've gone for a lightweight project page.
I think we should keep the presence there, but I think it could give a better impression. Hoping that I can assist in that by submitting this issue!

Because most of our other systems use markdown (e.g. Mattermost, GitLab, GitHub, StackExchange, MkDocs), so in some ways it has become the go-to portable format. I can copy markdown directly from StackExchange and post it into MkDocs without worrying about the formatting. This is great. Also, I can compose content on my local machine using a markdown editor, and then post it to one or more of these web-based systems later. The workflow is very nice. But c.o is not compatible with this nice workflow.

There so many small problems with the menus that I don't think it's even worth listing them all out. So instead, I pulled @nicw aside at the UK sprint this evening and pointed them out in realtime. He agreed that there are lots of problems but said that it would probably be a lot of work to re-do the menus because there are so many layers of hacks right now.
In any case, I made this google doc to propose one menu structure that we could use for the site:

A more useful URL to link to would be `blog/<username>`

The link "*Written by: [genadellett](https://civicrm.org/users/genadellett)"

I have disabled its code for now, by adding a `return` statement in its `hook_cron` function.
This has been broken for a long time, and is a low priority.
Found it by adding a `drush_log` statement in `includes/common.inc`, in `drupal_cron_run()`:
```
// Iterate through the modules calling their cron handlers (if any):
foreach (module_implements('cron') as $module) {
drush_log("*************** $module", 'ok');
// Do not let an exception thrown by one module disturb another.
try {
module_invoke($module, 'cron');
}
catch (Exception $e) {
watchdog_exception('cron', $e);
}
}
Guy set a temporary key associated to his company account.
We should change for a key associated to CiviCRM LLC.
@MikeyMJCO Pointed out that CiviCRM.org should not use Google Maps, and instead rely on services that are more free (libre?), based on Open Street Maps. I support this, but would also argue that CiviCRM itself should have better support for those solutions. i.e. it is an upstream issue in CiviCRM. If one exists, then we should use it.https://lab.civicrm.org/marketing/civicrm-website/-/issues/83Smart Groups which worked before now result in "db syntax error"2018-09-26T01:40:20ZnoahSmart Groups which worked before now result in "db syntax error"I would like to send a mailing to contacts in San Francisco Bay Area Regional Event Outreach (Smart Group). If it's a Commit or a New Issue, the URL path is a complete link (https://lab.civicrm.org/path/to/activity). If it's a comment on an issue, which uses a #, it's relative (ie /path/to#activity) which breaks the view on /groups creating links that look like https://civicrm.org/path/to#issue instead of https://lab.civicrm.org/path/to#issue. But as it's not on all items this can't be over-ridden in views.
Maybe this is an issue to raise with Gitlab as it seems odd behavior. For time being, simplest fix would be to just show a list of 'Issues' rather than recent activity. Critiques of the current homepage have been that it is presenting too much information, that it's unclear, that much of the information is irrelevant to the target segment (new users), that it's difficult to navigate from, and that it's trying to be too much for too many segments. The most recent consideration was to swap out the [features page](https://civicrm.org/explore-civicrm) for the homepage.
The homepage largely targets new users that likely are seeking a solution to a problem (i.e. they're in pain and want to know if CiviCRM can help them). The homepage should seek to answer:
- What is CiviCRM?
- Can CiviCRM do x, y and z?
