I was wondering if there has been a website audit of CiviCRM.org? Especially in its current iteration which seems to have launched in 2017. There is just so much content, so many links, so many menus, so many options, so many audiences, it is all overwhelming. Can we easily define what the editorial mission of the website is?

Each CiviCRM site regularly sends information back to a civicrm.org end point, collecting various data points about that CiviCRM site. This information is collected in the background and to my knowledge, without any prior notice to the CiviCRM user and without any explicit consent given for this data collection. I think this is an important issue that needs to be addressed before it becomes a problem.
Recommend changing this approach such that users are both informed and have the option to consent to this background data collection from their CiviCRM site. This could be an option in the CiviCRM Settings page which defaults to "Off" (disabled), which the user can enable if they want to "opt in" to this data collection system. A link to a page which describes what data is collected, what it is used for and who has access to this data should be made available on civicrm.org.
A similar issue for informed consent is here, https://lab.civicrm.org/dev/financial/-/issues/167joshjosh@civicrm.orgjoshjosh@civicrm.orghttps://lab.civicrm.org/marketing/civicrm-website/-/issues/129Order of sponsors in event sponsor block is wrong2019-06-18T11:50:31Zjoshjosh@civicrm.orgOrder of sponsors in event sponsor block is wrongView sponsors at https://civicrm.org/civicon/barcelona-2019 It appears that the order is off a bit as Bronze Sponsors appear before the Global sponsor currently.View sponsors at https://civicrm.org/civicon/barcelona-2019 It appears that the order is off a bit as Bronze Sponsors appear before the Global sponsor currently.nicolnicolhttps://lab.civicrm.org/marketing/civicrm-website/-/issues/250Purge users who have not logged in for a very long time2022-04-04T15:50:42ZbgmPurge users who have not logged in for a very long timeContext: We have a ton of users on civicrm.org, for various reasons (old spam accounts, people who thought it was the way to get started with civicrm, etc).

Proposition: I would like to purge users who have not logged-in for 1000 days, roughly 3 years. This totals around 9,500 accounts of 13,000 accounts (I already purged 2500 accounts from people who never logged-in, mostly spam).
~~Or if we use 2000 days, 7,854 users would be deleted.~~
Why? At first because I was running into a performance issue (infra/ops#962), but also because I think we should periodically cleanup old data. I realize that most of this data also lives in the CRM too, but I intend to clean that up as well eventually, and deleting the Drupal accounts first will help.
The [purge_users](https://www.drupal.org/project/purge_users) module is pretty handy, it allows us to exclude anyone who has a role, for example, so that we do not delete historical contributors.
The config looks like this:

Why: we want to enable multilingual, which is a fairly big change in the configurations. We will need to upgrade sooner or later (within 1-3 years). Here are some examples of some goals I have heard. If these are all goals, what is prioritized?
* Increase the number of developers working on CiviCRM
* Increase the number of donors / members of CiviCRM
* Increase the adoption of CiviCRM
* Keep engaged the current users of CiviCRM
* Keep engaged the current system admins of CiviCRM
* Keep engaged the current developers of CiviCRM
* Provide value to donors of CiviCRM
Once we get a few people to chime in - I will try to compile a synthesized version of the feedback. Once we get a common understanding of our goals - we can get into the details by developing some objectives.CiviCRM Website Upgradethemakthemak2019-07-31https://lab.civicrm.org/marketing/civicrm-website/-/issues/136Revise user registration process2024-03-07T15:47:30Zjoshjosh@civicrm.orgRevise user registration processA bit of a brain dump:

* Current user registration involves both user registration (https://civicrm.org/user/register) as well as "site registration" (https://civicrm.org/register-a-site).
* Why even register in the first place? The value of registration is unclear and not at all communicated.
* Stuart is working on a new reg page here: https://civicrm.org/new-register that could consolidate things.
* Not unrelated to https://lab.civicrm.org/infrastructure/ops/issues/755
* Site registration captures a lot of info that we don't use.
* How could this be facilitated in-app?
* What is the process beyond registration, i.e. what additional communications do registrants receive? What follow ups are triggered, etc.?
### Some comments from others brought into this issue
* Random thought: I was looking at civicrm.org/user/register (community profile creation, when not connected; for anti-spam issue). Shouldn't there be a checkbox to specify if: user, admin, developer? (to funnel into becoming a member or a partner), (to replace or complement the plain text-box for 'community role')
* also the headshot photo upload should be removed? it isn't used anymore, but still says: "Please upload a "headshot photo" - approximately 250 x 250 pixels if you want to be included in the rotating "Community Gallery" on the top of CiviCRM.org pages. Your information will not be displayed if you don't provide a photograph." .. and very very few people seem to upload a photo.https://lab.civicrm.org/marketing/civicrm-website/-/issues/137Consolidate pages referring to "Getting Involved", "Community", and "Getting ...2024-03-07T16:44:51ZJonGoldConsolidate pages referring to "Getting Involved", "Community", and "Getting Help"These 5 pages should be consolidated into 2 pages - one on getting help (which may or may not in turn be consolidated into the documentation), and one on the community.

Context: We are currently using the Drupal user profile page, with a few plain blocs (html block, menu blocks), wrapped inside a panel. There is also a view for "[your support matters](https://civicrm.org/admin/structure/views/view/community_status/edit)".
Why?
* The current /user is good enough, but CiviCRM has a Contact Dashboard that aims to do exactly this. It might not be good enough, but we should use and improve the tools we develop and encourage people to use.
* The views/panels/blocks, even if not much, increases the quantity of custom duct tape that requires maintenance and will need to be re-done anyway once we [upgrade the CMS](https://lab.civicrm.org/marketing/civicrm-website/wikis/2019-cms-upgrade). May as well do it now, to ease our upgrade path.
Despite some shortcomings, the Contact Dashboard has a few advantages that already work: Viewing recent contributions, events, membership status, relationships (useful for partners, to see who is linked to their partner record).
What's missing:
* I would place "Your membership" at the top completely (see: [reorderdashboard](https://lab.civicrm.org/extensions/reorderdashboard))
* The "Your Groups" should also have a link to: https://civicrm.org/update-my-mailing-preferences - or we might replace the block completely for now.
* A better 'call to action'? a one-sentence help text? I think our current /user is pretty representative of CiviCRM itself: a lot of links, not intuitive for new users. (I just made matters worst, by adding two links for time-contributions). Although I want to avoid debates about defining audiences, because it's a never-ending discussion and I'm only aiming to provide status quo, while keeping in mind we will improve the dashboard once we're ready to move forward.CiviCRM Website Upgradehttps://lab.civicrm.org/marketing/civicrm-website/-/issues/140EC nomination forms2020-07-29T16:03:11ZbgmEC nomination formsSource: community/ec#1 and from @jlacey

For next year, I would recommend: https://lab.civicrm.org/extensions/elections

Currently emails sent by the CMS are sent through CiviCRM's mailer (civismtp.com), using the [civicrmmailer](https://lab.civicrm.org/extensions/civicrmmailer-d7) module. It might need tweaking so that emails are not sent from arbitrary domains, or Drupal might have an option to change how emails are sent (with a valid 'from' and without a reply-to).

Recommend inserting some guideline text on the Blog page on CiviCRM.org to notify authors where to post their content and provide links to the guideline and how to post Event information.
Of the 10 news items on this page, 5 of the "news" are CiviDesk training session announcements which are also repeated in Events.
As a sidenote, you may want to consider **monetizing** the ability to post certain types of "news" in the CiviCRM dashboard due to it's global and direct marketing reach.

> For 2020, Agileware will be posting a 12-month training schedule and also promoting this on civicrm.org. I would much prefer having an easy method of advertising these events in the events listing on civicrm.org - ideally something automated like pull in an iCal feed.
> It's time-consuming and tedious, to have to manually create a CiviCRM Event...
> If we run 72 training sessions in the year, that's 72 CiviCRM Events ... we have to create.
This could be simply a matter of having a feature on the website or CiviCRM which allows an iCal feed of Events to be consumed and published. RSS or another format could also be used - perhaps even a custom XML feed. Open to ideas.
Not having good timezone support in CiviCRM would likely be an issue since training dates are advertised in differing timezones (see https://lab.civicrm.org/dev/core/issues/441) so that needs to be considered when doing this.

...civicrm.org is currently running Drupal 7 and will need to transition to a different platform. In addition, civicrm.org has historically been a mashup of information about CiviCRM, from features to extensions to partners to events, etc.
This agenda item is intended to address a transition of the site to a new CMS and to consider how the site itself should change to better serve the CiviCRM community.

There are three areas that could be improved:
1. On the [sign up page](https://civicrm.org/update-my-mailing-preferences), I don't think there is enough distinction for the 'unsubscribe from all' tickbox. If you don't look carefully it appears to be a set of different mailing lists to subscribe to and some people may just tick all of the boxes to subscribe to everything - not realising that the last one actually *unsubscribes* them from everything.
![image](/uploads/58aadf682e800be29f3dfc15c609bb1c/image.png)
1. The confirmation email that I received has a link but it isn't clickable. I had to manually copy and paste it to confirm the changes.
1. When I get to the confirmation page it doesn't mention security announcements just the three other mailing lists.

This issue may be the same as issue #33 but I've raised a new issue as that one is a couple of years old and just specifies Safari on iPhone. From my testing, this issue appears to affect all mobile devices and browsers.

This means that the user has to scroll right to view the rest of the table (not a huge issue) but more importantly the menu icon is off-screen so that it appears that there isn't any menu on this page.
Visible in the browser:

See annotated screenshot below and number references.
1 - Title field is too short to see the entire title. Text is small and hard to read.
2 - The drop-down options for the styles are in dire need of improvement. All caps headings is not ideal, "shouting" and aggressive.
3 - Image size restrictions are somewhat limiting. Why set a maximum size? Where the image is displayed on the page? It's really not clear.
4 - Blog tags. Tags are difficult to select, browse and there is no guidance or description as to when each should be applied.
5 - File attachments. This is easier to use to embed an image than the image field (3) and defaults to display on the page. But otherwise, I am not really sure why this field is required at all - this is a Blog not a method of sharing files.
6 - WYSI experience is really painful. Have to switch to the plain text editor to fix HTML. <video> tag is not allowed. Available styles are not great.

* /user will point to d8

It will also mean that we will be able to switch off the blog/user sync, which has had some issues.
Doing the switch now will certainly cause some confusion and some feature regressions, but it will help reduce complexity of the dual-sites and help the larger community benefit from Drupal8 (new editor interface for blog posts and make translation easier).CiviCRM Website Upgradebgmbgmhttps://lab.civicrm.org/marketing/civicrm-website/-/issues/187Inconsistent behavior on partner listing display2024-03-07T16:49:56Zjoshjosh@civicrm.orgInconsistent behavior on partner listing displaySome partner detail pages display as expected. The "contributions" tab can disappear, since it's not up to date and very likely to change. The rest seems relevant?

Either the view or the display setting for the RSS feed probably needs to strip these fields.

And none of the dropdowns are working for the editor - you just get really long lists of checkboxes.
I was not specifically trying to use the d8 site, just went to the extensions directory in the normal way and clicked the link to add a new extension.
As discussed on mattermost:
@mattwire Those nodes aren't ported yet. Can you open an issue, and I'll update when it's fixed?
(the json feed is still running off the old d7 site. extdir has a ton of tech-debt, and was hoping to get it moved to the new extension manager, but that's unlikely to happen soon, so we might need to port it over to d8..)
As reported by @jaapjansma
@bgm I want to change to github url to gitlab on https://civicrm.org/extensions/pdf-creation-api but I cannot change the extension on civicrm.org. Not sure if you are the right person to fix this.CiviCRM Website Upgradebgmbgm
