_When DB Entity is used as the 'search for' entity, it includes contacts from the trash even if not specified in the criteria of the original SK where the DB Entity display was constructed._
_This is the original post in _[_Mattermost_](https://chat.civicrm.org/civicrm/pl/nji7p7prsid7dkf6p7ha3qksha)_._
## Reproduction steps
1. To test this you **_need to have some deleted contacts in your trash_**.
2. **Add a new** **SK** and do not change anything in the compose window (entity Contacts, everything default).
3. **Add a DB Entity display** to the SK you created in step 1 and preview it
4. **Save the SK** and **clear the cache** (I'm finding a have to clear the cache a 2-3 times)
5. **Add a new SK**
6. As the first **search for** entity, **_choose the DB Entity_** you created in step 2 and view the results
## Current behaviour
_The results returned for the child SK based on the DB Entity are higher than the results returned for the parent (first) SK. And the table created for the SK DB Entity the same number as shown in child SK. Note the result count in each of the following images. I have two contacts in the trash._
The SK created in step 1 (the parent for the DB Entity display - _Basic Contact Search_) has 201 results.
![sk-basic-contact-search_1.png](/uploads/c39cf6e5f33df445605656635569d70c/sk-basic-contact-search_1.png)
The SK where the DB Entity (_Basic Contact Search Child)_ created in step 1 is used as the **Search for** entity has 203 results.
![sk-basic-contact-search-child-based-on-db-entity_2.png](/uploads/7b7b5f3cc961fd0d3338fd06ea7726fa/sk-basic-contact-search-child-based-on-db-entity_2.png)
If I add the following where clause to the parent SK (_Basic Contact Search)_:
``WHERE (`a`.`is_deleted` = "0")``
![sk-basic-contact-search-addwhere-trash.png](/uploads/2a894589478f15154cebea240eaccbad/sk-basic-contact-search-addwhere-trash.png){width=491 height=178}
I get the correct result in my SK (_Basic Contact Search Child_) that is based on the DB Entity. The 201 results matches the original SK (_Basic Contact Search_).
![sk-basic-contact-search-child-updated.png](/uploads/ea5ebf91d8dc36c941cfa90a6409c411/sk-basic-contact-search-child-updated.png){width=525 height=272}
## Expected behaviour
_One should not be required to add the where clause to exclude the contacts in the trash. It seems as though that should be the default behaviour._

It also says "To resolve any errors, go to __Manage Extensions__.", but after following that link I don't know what to do next.
We had the following extensions installed:
- AuthX

- CiviReport
- CKEditor4
- Contributor cancel actions

- FlexMailer
- SearchKit
After installing CiviContribute due to the extension error, I got the following full page error message:

CiviContribute is now also listed as installed extension.

Installation of version 5.69.0 on a fresh Ubuntu install with WordPress.
1. I used this link to setup Wordpress on Ubuntu:
https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/install-and-configure-wordpress#1-overview
2. I followed this set of instructions to install CiviCRM:
https://docs.civicrm.org/installation/en/latest/wordpress/
3. When I go to the installation/setup wizard I add the credentials for the database I created (separate from WP database and the user has grant all and specifically grant trigger on civicrm.*). I did destroy the VM and build a second time with same steps and results.
_If you have already posted on https://civicrm.stackexchange.com or https://chat.civicrm.org, please include the link to that conversation._
I have not posted there, but I see older posts regarding this on previous versions. None of those offer a valid solution for this present issue,

The fix was to run the 'Cleanup Caches' option. What may be a clue is that this system uses ACLs and although this user would have been restricted by ACLs she would have had access to the contacts she was searching for. As an administrator I could see the contacts when she couldn't which does seem to point to ACLs as the problem.https://lab.civicrm.org/dev/core/-/issues/4845CiviEvent with approvals: Registration form not pre-filled with (custom) part...2023-12-20T19:21:06ZTobias Voigttobias.voigt@civiservice.deCiviEvent with approvals: Registration form not pre-filled with (custom) participant dataI'm not sure wether this is a proposal or an issue. While this works great for simple registration use cases, where only contact information is gathered in the initial registration form, this feature regrettably can't be used for more comlex use cases, where the initial form also contains additional (custom) participant data (e.g. "Do you want the vegetarian option for dinner?").
So, if there's any fields for custom participant data in the initial registration form, users would fill out the form and send it. Afterwards, admins approve the registration and a confirmation link is sent out to the approved user. If he/she clicks on the confirmation link and chooses to confirm, all contact data gets pre-filled into the form - BUT: the participant data - which is already stored in the database from the initial form - is not pre-filled and has to be filled out again.
This drastically limits the scope of use cases this feature could work for, since in almost all our client's projects we work with additional / custom participant data.
So my question is: Is this a bug and the participant data should actually be loaded during the confirmation process? Or was this feature never intended? Or maybe the feature was intended but never realized? In any case: What might be the scope of development work necessary to not only pre-fill the confirmation form with contact data but also with participant data?https://lab.civicrm.org/dev/core/-/issues/4846API Deprecation2023-12-20T19:19:58ZtreseroAPI DeprecationLots of these in the log for mailings

What more can I do to try and trace the source of it. My gut feel is that it's a DB corruption of sorts but I am unable to identify what. I set SQL trace on in CiviCRM but that doesn't display any errors that I can see.

That's because `CRM_Queue_Queue_Sql::claimItem()` fetches the _first_ queue item and filters for `release_time` _afterwards_ - yielding no result, but reporting more items to be in the queue (`is_continue=1`). The only way to catch these cases with code calling the `CRM_Queue_Runner::runNext()` method is to check for `is_error=1` and the `exception` message being `Failed to claim next task`.
So, I've got some questions regarding Queues:
* Is there any best practice for handling errors during `claimItem()` any better?
* Would you agree there should be another indicator in the task result for those cases, or maybe that exception actually being thrown?
* Alternatively, should `is_continue` be `0` instead for those cases (i.e. its meaning would change from _queue finished_ to _queue processing can continue_)?
* Can the `$lease_time` parameter for SQL queues' `claimItem()` be exposed to all queues, so that the caller can modify it?

----------------------------------------
We have come across an issue where the database connection was timing out due to slow, long-running queries when the Send Scheduled Mailings job was running. We became aware of this when we set a maximum execution time limit of 3 minutes for MySQL queries. Mailings for one of our clients were not being sent because the database connection was timing out.
As a workaround, we have increased the maximum execution time to 10 minutes and reduced the Mailer Batch Limit and Mailer Job Size to 1,000. However, we'd like to fix the underlying issue that the queries are running so slowly.
When sending a mailing CiviCRM runs a query of the form:
```sql
SELECT r.contact_id, r.email_id, r.phone_id
FROM civicrm_mailing_recipients r
INNER JOIN civicrm_contact c on
(c.id = r.contact_id
AND c.is_deleted = 0
AND c.is_deceased = 0
AND c.do_not_email = 0
AND c.is_opt_out = 0
)
INNER JOIN civicrm_email e ON (r.email_id = e.id AND e.on_hold = 0)
WHERE r.mailing_id = 3271
LIMIT 18000, 1000
```
There are no indices for `is_deceased`, `do_not_email` or `is_opt_out` so this query is very slow. (There is an index for `is_deleted`. There should be an index for `is_deceased` but this appears to be missing from this site.)
We have tested adding these indices in a development environment to see what difference it would make and this increase the speed of the query by a factor of one thousand:
- 20,000 rows with no indices = 80 seconds
- 20,000 rows with indices = 0.085 seconds
Reproduction steps
----------------------------------------
This is likely to only affect sites with a large number of contacts and large number of rows in the `civicrm_mailing_recipients` table (in this case 46,000 contacts and 9 million rows respectively).
1. Set a maximum execution time for MySQL of 3 minutes (say)
2. Create a mailing to a large group of contacts (>20,000)
3. Schedule the mailing to send
4. Send Scheduled Mailings job fails with error: "Finished execution of Send Scheduled Mailings with result: Failure, Error message: DB Error: unknown error"
Current behaviour
----------------------------------------
No indices ~~`is_deceased`~~, `do_not_email` or `is_opt_out` in `civicrm_contact` so queries run very slowly.
Expected behaviour
----------------------------------------
Indices for the above fields so that the query runs quickly.

@colemanw I know you have suggested civi-volunteer remove the angular profiles & they have said 'can you give us some pointers' - this is a bit problematic as it is on our demo sitehttps://lab.civicrm.org/dev/core/-/issues/4357Timezone with Drupal 9, CiviCRM entity and Views2023-12-23T00:55:25Z5knotsTimezone with Drupal 9, CiviCRM entity and ViewsOverview

We are working with grants, where fields like "money transferred" exist. This field is stored in the database as a "date-only" value (screenshot). However, Drupal interprets the date as a datetime field and, presumably, sets the time to 12 noon, but a day before. This leads to inconsistent dates in Drupal Views outputs. Is there a known workaround to avoid this issue? Currently, I have set a fixed 12-hour timezone difference for the View, which works but is not an ideal solution.
Reproduction steps
----------------------------------------
1. Install civicrm entity and enable grants
1. go to Drupal Views and create a new view based on grants.
1. include fields like 'money transferred'
Current behaviour
----------------------------------------
Drupal interprets the date as a **datetime** field.
Both attached screenshots are from the same entry.

Expected behaviour
----------------------------------------
Drupal interprets the date as a **date** field.

Here is an example:
I have contacts, and added information is additional casts traveled in.
In the backend contacts edit, no problem, you can add multiple casts per contact.

But in a form you only can use a select, not multiselect and it doesn't inherit from the base.

Therefore, members can't update their casts with multiple casts.
