Positioning of quick edit boxes

I'm finding that the position of the quick edit boxes don't feel natural on Riverlea.

For example, this first recording is the original Greenwich theme. The edit box remains in it's original position, growing to the right if necessary, which feels very natural:

By contrast, Minetta. Here the box jumps to the right, the IM box moves up to fill the place where the phone box was, and it's easy to lose track of where you should be looking. The movement does not feel intuitive.

I find the experience feels worse on larger screens, and when using themes with vertical tabs (e.g. Walbrook).

I have been testing on WordPress, so I'm not sure if this happens in other CMSs.
