CiviMail scheduled jobs setup docs could do with some clarifications
Created by: jmdh
I found these docs quite difficult to follow:
- I wanted to use the existing scheduled jobs feature, but I missed the example https://docs.civicrm.org/sysadmin/en/latest/setup/civimail/#scheduling-using-the-scheduled-jobs-administrative-page because it sits on its own, and isn't in the https://docs.civicrm.org/sysadmin/en/latest/setup/civimail/#civimail-installation section.
- Because I was looking for docs about the existing scheduled jobs, and not the separate cron method, I missed the key bit of information I was looking for - the CMS user permissions - which are mentioned in https://docs.civicrm.org/sysadmin/en/latest/setup/civimail/#cms-user-and-role
- There is a recommendation to use a separate cms user for the mail cron job. Is this a reason to choose the separate cron job over the usual scheduled jobs functionality? A discussion of this trade-off would be good.
Overall, I suspect that https://docs.civicrm.org/sysadmin/en/latest/setup/civimail/#scheduling-inbound-and-outbound-mail-processing should just be dropped and the information folded into the main installation section.
I'm out of time to work on a PR for this now, but may come back to this in a couple of weeks.
