Use "Active Membership" to describe a "current member" to avoid confusion with the "current" membership status
Overview
Use "Active Membership" to describe a "current member" to avoid confusion with the "current" membership status. Using the same word for two different meanings is confusing to users and problematic on the screens as the purpose is not explicit.
As being discussed here, https://civicrm.stackexchange.com/questions/33946/search-find-memberships-difference-between-membership-status-current-and-curr/33948
Example use-case
- User wants to find all contacts with membership.
- Goes to the Find Memberships screen.
- Unable to decide if they select "membership status = current" or "Current Member? Yes"
- User selects both options and is shown an incorrect list of contacts.
- The selection has excluded "New" and "Grace" statuses.
Having "Active Membership" is a clearer choice in this case.
Current behaviour
Same terminology is being used to refer to the membership status and a grouping of multiple membership statuses.
Proposed behaviour
Use "Active Membership" to describe a "current member" to avoid confusion with the "current" membership status
