Afform - how to edit not obvious

After several attempts I'm still completely mystified as to how to create a simple afform and open in edit mode for a contact. I have tried on demo.dmaster.civicrm.org creating a basic individual form but cannot figure out how to add an id to the url

The biggest part of this is there is no documentation.

However I suspect this should be addressed with notes / links in the UI as well
