Critique of voting criteria
I'd like to suggest a change to the criteria section.
A qualified voter must be an individual who, at the time of announcing the election, is an active contributor to the CiviCRM project, which would include any of the following:
- Having an active account on
- Having attended a CiviCRM-sponsored event
those seem fine
this one I have some serious problems with:
- Having made a financial contribution to CiviCRM
The primary criteria seem designed to create a very low barrier to entry -- and that is a good thing. If someone that has made a contribution to CiviCRM does not meet any of the other criteria, in my opinion they are not engaged enough with the community to deserve a say in the community's decisions. I'd propose removing that last line entirely, it's unnecessary.
